Wellness means many things to many people, but at the YMCA-YWCA it means taking care of your health today and every day. As we age, we are at greater risk for health problems related to lack of regular and sustained physical activity and we can greatly reduce their risk of heart disease, colon cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure by engaging in regular exercise.
At the Y we have developed a variety of programs to address preventable disease and the peripheral factors that cause health problems in aging adults.
Building Better Bones
Take a proactive approach to your bone health and help prevent osteoporosis. This program combines physical activity in the water, on land and in the weight room and champions a holistic approach to building and maintaining strong bones for life. Approval by a physician may be required.
Healthy Hearts
Have you recently been diagnosed or are at risk of developing a chronic disease, like heart disease, lung disease or diabetes? Join Healthy Hearts – a supervised physical activity program designed to help keep you physically active and improve your health. See our Y Guide or ask Member Services for conditions. Learn more about the program and complete the required ParMed-X form to get started.
