Personal Fitness

Youth Orientation 
Youth 13 - 16 are required to participate in a Conditioning Room Orientation prior to use (members and drop-ins). Sign up at Member Services.

Individual Training
Members who are already including regular exercise as an important part of their lives can receive program design, guidance and updates from a certified Trainer every 8 weeks, free with your membership. For more information pick up our Personal Health & Fitness Brochure or speak with a Fitness Trainer.

Personal Training
One-on-one specialized program design including a fitness assessment with personal guidance and motivation throughout your workouts.

This nationally-acclaimed process is a specific and comprehensive system of support for anyone starting to work out. A wellness coach will assist you to create and reach short and long term fitness goals and through follow-up meetings for continued success.
 
This flexible approach is designed to help you form the habit of regular exercise. You will learn the specific skills to help you set realistic goals and adjust your work out while receiving feedback and support.

After six, one-on-one sessions you will:

  • Believe in your ability to start and stick with exercise

  • Know how to be active, doing what you like

  • Improve your mental and physical well-being

  • Increase your power to protect yourself with a better lifestyle

  • Reasons to believe in your ability to start and stick with exercise

You will know how to:

  • Customize your physical activity to minimize your risk for dropping out

  • Accomplish overall goals by setting short-term S.M.A.R.T. goals

  • Track your mood, energy level, and progress using specially designed computer software

  • Operate the fitness equipment you choose to include in your plan

  • Pick a class that is paced properly for you

  • Plan for slips in attendance and how to recover when they occur

  • Enlist social support from Y staff, friends, co-workers, and family

  • Stop destructive thinking and start supportive self-talk

  • Make sure your physical activity leaves you refreshed, not worn out

  • Make exercise persistence pay off

  • Balance rewarding yourself with praise and setting new challenges
