YMCA's around the world work to re-build communities in crisis situations, like earthquakes, floods and political instability. The YMCA-YWCA of the Central Okanagan is committed to this mission, providing financial aid to YMCAs and YWCAs affected by the Asian Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.
YMCA Ethiopia Education Program

HIV/Aids Intervention & Education support and financial contribution to help deal with the epidemic spread of HIV/Aids in Ethiopia.
Youth Leadership. Young Ethiopian YMCA leaders are sponsored to attend an International Youth Leadership Development program that teaches leadership skills, strategies and education, enabling Ethiopian leaders to use these skills and experiences in their home communities.
Program and Fitness Equipment. Surplus and no longer used program and fitness equipment has been shipped to Ethiopia to help in the re-generation of YMCA programs and facilities.
Helping Ethiopians practice preventative health activities will lead to a healthier society in Ethiopia.
Leadership Exchanges. Canadian YMCA leaders share their experiences and best practices with Ethiopian YMCA leaders in visits in our respective countries. Learning from and with one another to create greater capacity and better practices.
