Career Contact Centre for Youth

Our YMCA–YWCA Career Contact Centre for Youth provides access to resources, technology, volunteer opportunities, and individualized employment counseling in a self–serve, youth–centered environment.

"I was new to Kelowna and had no idea of where to go or how to write a resume. With the help from the staff of the Career Contact Centre, I created a professional resume. I would just like to express my sincere thanks — I received three job offers in one day!"

The success of our career centre has been enhanced by partnerships with many sectors. We’re proud of our strong working relationship with government agencies such as Service Canada, the Ministry of Human Resources, School District #23, many Central Okanagan businesses and service organizations, and several dedicated volunteers who contribute their time, talent and resources on an ongoing basis.

Jumpstart: Employment Essentials

Want to earn while you learn?

Then Jumpstart: Employment Essentials may be for you!

Here’s what we’ll be doing:

Creating a winning attitude for your working life
Developing the essential skills that will help you land the job you want
Learning stellar career exploration and work search skills
Gaining what you need in order to keep that great job!

You will learn tons of great new skills, AND:

Participate in a 4 week work experience with a local employer!!

ALL OF THIS, & YOU GET PAID TOO!

If you are 15-30 years of age and looking for work, this may be your lucky day!

The Government of Canada has contributed to these initiatives

You and 14 others will be learning tons and having fun in an innovative, interactive class for 4 weeks. Then, we'll help you find an employer who has a job you're interested in, and you'll go work there for 4 weeks! That's a total of 8 weeks of support from our great staff who are very knowledgeable and will help you get on the right track for a job you'll love.

Talk about a good deal - you learn, and you get paid the entire time!
